Alternative Cones of Shame

After surgery or if your dog is licking excessively vets will often send your golden home with a cone to prevent them from being able to chew at sutures or a hot spot, etc. Cones typically cost about $20. It’s a good idea to keep a cone on hand as you never know when you might need one.

The rescue has some of the “donut” shaped cones that are available to foster families which work pretty well and are pretty easy for the dog to sleep in and get around the house without bumping into things. Here are some other options to try.

Our Shelby had to get stitches unexpectedly this week and the vet sent us home with a very large plastic cone. Well thank goodness Pat offered one of their donuts to use instead of this large cone. It has made the whole process much more comfortable for Shelby and she looks pretty cute with it too. Makes us think she is ready for a boat ride. We will definitely be buying one of our own, just in case.

Picked up a donut pro-collar today @ Pepper’s. Roxy seems so much happier now than with the cone on!
