Zach is a 2 year old (43 lb) love bug. He loves to give you kisses and lay in your lap. He is your typical young golden who follows you room to room and wants to be where you are. He gets along well with other dogs, but does seem to annoy older dogs by his young antics.

He is learning basic obedience commands quickly and is a quick study. Zach is full of spunk and energy but knows when to quite down as well. He will require a fenced yard as he seems to always be looking for an escape route. He is also very interested in cats, so he is not recommended to be in a home with them.

Zach is being fostered by Kim and Titus.

List of dog food recalls from National Pet Pharmacy

After a last minute scare about swelling at her spay incision site, Frisky has gone to her new home near Annapolis. She will be joining Jeff and Cathy and Foster, their almost 31 year old parrot. We don’t know if Frisky can swim, but she’ll have to learn because they have a pool! We’ll miss Miss Frisky, but know she has found a wonderful home.

Measure your dog’s food. A cup of food looks mighty puny in a large dog bowl. Someone asked me how much I was feeding Harry and I really didn’t know as I had replaced my measuring cup with a scoop. Back to the measuring cup for us.

Harry needs some motivation to lose weight. (As does his mom, but that’s another story.) Over 50% of dogs in the US are overweight, so Harry (and Madeline) are not alone.

Harry suggests that we have a little contest over the summer from June 1 to Sept. 1 where the dog who loses the greatest percentage of weight (compared to their overall weight) wins a prize…..each of the non winners gets the winner a new toy.

It would keep us mindful of weight loss over the summer.

We could take our dogs for weigh ins at the vet once each month which will be good for Maddie to go to the vet for something that doesn’t hurt.

We could post weight loss tips on the blog and do before and after photos.
