Clean and Happy
One of the first things we like to do with a foster dog is give them a bath. It helps us understand how patient a foster dog is and, unless they hate it, I think the tactile experience is probably a good thing for the dog. Of course, dogs who haven’t been well cared for or are a feeling a bit of stress are often pretty smelly. PetCo has a self-service tub we’ve used before but today the wait was ~30 minutes. We decided to try the self-service tubs at Peppers Pet Pantry in Solomon’s. It’s a bit further and more expensive ($20 versus PetCo $10) but IT WAS WORTH IT!! They have three tubs: deep, wide, nice rubberized non-skid bottom, high enough that Paul doesn’t have to bend over and a nice entry ramp. They have nail trimmers, scissors, rubber grooming tools, an abundance of bathing products (various shampoos, conditioners, ear and eye wipes, etc), towels, a decent dryer and aprons for people to wear (a good thing since Paul is a bit wild with the sprayer). Happy was very patient and cooperative and now he smells a lot better! We will definitely go back again.

Meet Happy
Happy is a three year old golden boy whose owner gave him up due to lack of finances. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He desperately needs a good grooming which is what his foster family, Peggy and Paul, are doing on this beautiful Saturday.
He is a bit shy, but he just traveled from Tennesee and needs to get his bearings. He is a leaner…..loves to sit or stand by you and lean into you to get closer to the petting.
Happy has a family on the waiting list that is interested in adopting him.

Meet Ramona
Ramona was found at a Walmart parking lot. A woman in Tennessee found her, took her home, found out she was pregnant, let her have her pups and was then going to take all of them to a kill shelter. Tonya, who lives in TN, and a foster home with our rescue, offered to take Ramona and her pups and find homes for them.
Ramona arrived today. She is estimated to be four years old. She is a petite girl at about 30 lbs. She is very quiet, house trained and follows her humans from room to room waiting to be petted.
She is fine with cats, has lived with kids although would likely prefer a quieter household, and while she is fine with other dogs, she does not engage in play…..but of course she just had puppies 5 weeks ago.
She will need to be spay before she is adopted.
