Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

Inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Legend of the Rainbow Bridge

Today our Honey crossed over Rainbow Bridge. After several weeks of really slowing down, this week Honey told us she was ready to cross when she stopped eating. Her spirit and love for life just was not there anymore. She was one of GRRSM’s earliest rescues, being the eighth dog taken in during that first […]

he was crazy active and happy, running every day for the joy of running, and eating all he could, well, for the joy of eating.

Dona and I have some bad news. We had to have Fluffy put down this morning. She wasn’t acting 100% so I took her to Dona’s vet here in Pennsylvania. A series of X-Rays showed massive cancer around her heart, spleen etc. with her heart nearly twice normal size. There was no indication of any […]

If you’re feeling down … close your eyes, point your nose to the sun, inhale and let the positive energy recharge you

From Jan As many of you know we lost our Jake early Sept. And sadly I am posting that our Ross Boy left this world today..truly mourning the loss of his best friend Jake. Our boys lived together for 9+ years, and they were bonded together by the love of leaving dog hair on my […]

She created a legacy for all our current and future dogs

his zest for life, (and tennis balls) was unmatched.

She was 16 and had lived a happy, healthy life

He made us laugh every day.

It’s going to be a difficult week. Had to say goodbye to our dear, beautiful, playful, loving Cooper today.

Your spirit will live forever in our home.

Sometimes rescue’s don’t do what is smart. Instead, they do what is right, and kind, and good. Senior boy Max’s equally senior owner could no longer care for him and took him to the shelter. When Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Maryland was contacted, we could have done the “smart” thing and let the staff […]

Fin was a sweet loving guy and liked to be cuddled. He was happy here and inclined to abscond with food to the end.

We loved this little boy so much

THINGS DON’T ALWAYS WORK OUT THEY WAY YOU WOULD HOPE THEY WOULD

We said a sad good bye to sweet Charlotte today.

we did our very best to make those years happy for her.

Thank God for GRRSM giving us one of the most precious gifts

She has given our family so much love and we will miss her like crazy until we see her again someday.

I am VERY grateful for the
extra months we got to have with our incredible Cody bear.

BaTuke’ (Tuke) was a great and loving boy taken way to early. He loved to play and twirl around, he would even snap his toys like hiking a football. At first he was a handful, didn’t listen very well, but then we found out that his original patents were Brazilian. He just didn’t understand English😊. […]

I will miss our nightly talks about the day

He was always the most well behaved dog in the neighborhood and always had a smile on his face and a wag in his tail.

She was our everything and filled our hearts with so much much love, our lives with joy and purpose. We’ll forever miss her until we’re reunited again.

He was my “Golden Gentleman”.

They brought joy and happiness to our family! They will be terribly missed!

We were so fortunate to have 3 great years with him.

More like a gentle Teddy Bear it was like he had always been with us…

We are so glad he did not suffer from cancer or another horrible disease and was happy and healthy right up until he was not. He was an easy boy who was so loved by us. We will miss you Harry.

He was a great well behaved and my favorite

Our Sydney passed over the Rainbow Bridge. She lived with us for almost 4 years. Norm drove to Tennessee to pick her up. He was concerned for her comfort traveling in a crate with the very large abscess growth on her tail. Unfortunately her tail had to be amputated. Sydney was another foster failure. Sydney […]

We will miss him greatly and remember him always

I know how happy mom must be to have her princess back by her side.

Angel always lived up to her name.

Saying “goodbye” never gets easier. Joe and I helped Stanley, our foster boy who we adopted yesterday, cross Rainbow Bridge today.

He was such a huge & important part of our family.
