Whisper Update
I feel like we had a major breakthrough tonight. Whisper actually played!! Whenever we have been in the backyard Whisper has always just stayed by my side, following me wherever I go, glued to my legs. Tonight she started to venture around the yard a bit. I was playing ball with Riley and when Whisper came up to me I held the ball down to her and squeaked it. Then I threw it. She ran after it and brought it back, not just once but 5 times!!! Not only did she do that but you could tell she was HAPPY! Then she was getting down on her forelegs and wanted to play with me. I think she is thinking of playing with the guys, she ran up to Moose but he is a little leery because she has growled at him in the past.
She is still my shadow in the house but she is letting Tom pet her. If you make a sudden move or noise she still cowers or runs. I think she is scared of men more in general. She barked at our son, Michael when he came and she really barked at our neighbor. One of my friends was here today and she didn’t bark at her at all but she still wouldn’t get close to her.
She hasn’t had any accidents in the house and she is starting to eat a little better. She doesn’t pay any attention to the cats. Whisper has discovered some of the finer things in life, like couches and rolling in the grass.
She still has a ways to go but I was just excited to see her actually play and be happy!! She is such a sweet and pretty little girl!

My Sarg didn’t know how to wrestle when I rescued him from pound a year ago. My Ding Echo taught him and now they do it all the time in the house when they can’t get out due to heat. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

Yay, Whisper! It seems like our new foster, Frankie has a lot of the same issues. Do you have any advice besides patience?
Patience is the only thing I know. It seems like we take a step forward and than a half- step back. She is still really timid but getting a little better in the yard and house. Still not playing with my boys but she licked Moose on the nose, which is better than growling at him!
