Doggie Weight Watchers
Harry needs some motivation to lose weight. (As does his mom, but that’s another story.) Over 50% of dogs in the US are overweight, so Harry (and Madeline) are not alone.
Harry suggests that we have a little contest over the summer from June 1 to Sept. 1 where the dog who loses the greatest percentage of weight (compared to their overall weight) wins a prize…..each of the non winners gets the winner a new toy.
It would keep us mindful of weight loss over the summer.
We could take our dogs for weigh ins at the vet once each month which will be good for Maddie to go to the vet for something that doesn’t hurt.
We could post weight loss tips on the blog and do before and after photos.
If you are willing to join our virtual canine weight watchers group please leave a message and try to get to the vet by June 1 to weigh your dog.

I’ll sign Ryley up. Need help though. I’m not sure what to do for him. We have his thyroid in check now,I thought he would drop the weight, but he’s not.
Oh! I have a spreedsheet already made up that will calculate this if you want it; from Biggest Losers at work.
Honey says no but I say she’s in. I still think she may have a thyroid issue. It will be interesting to see how much she weighs. She was at 93 the last time she went.
Spice is in too, as she needs to shed a few #.
What is the best way to do it? Just cut down on amount of food? Help!
I believe I read that calories and increasing exercise is the best way but it hasn’t worked for Bear.

Last night I started cutting Honey’s treats in half. Then I’ll go to a quarter.
Shelby and I are both in. We both need to do some losing. We were at the vet twice this week, so we have a starting weight. Thanks for posting all the weight loss tips Pat. Should we email Kim A. Shelby’s starting weight?
