Whisper Update

Posted for Glenda, Whisper’s Foster Mom…..

In Whisper’s world if it was just she and I she would be happy. She is affectionate and always happy to see me, curls up on the couch beside me, and likes to go on walks.

In the house she can still be kind of skittish even with me at times, but outside in the yard she will fetch the ball and run around. Any other person she will bark and growl at, hair up on her back. She will bark at Tom when he comes into a room. She will let him pet her if I am right there, and she will take some treats from him, and will walk with him on walks if I am ahead of them. This morning I was gone for awhile and she did go hide under the desk (which is one of her safe places) while Tom was at the desk.

I have taken her to Dunkirk Park a couple of times to just walk around where there are other dogs and people. This morning there was no one in the dog park, so I took her and let her loose just so she could sniff around. She still doesn’t play with the other dogs. Sometimes she gets possessive of me or her toys and will snap at them. I think her ideal home would be with a woman and no other dogs, then she could have all the attention.

She really is a sweet little girl, if only she would trust more people. Next week will be a test for her, as I am leaving on Tues to spend a week with my mother in Iowa. I think it will be good for her not to have me around for awhile. Hopefully she will learn to trust Tom.

Foster Fun

Had to share this note I got from Susan -

Just letting you know that Frankie got his booster shot today.

The hardest part was getting him in the car to go there!

After he escaped once and ran to our front door, I ended up getting in the back seat with him, closing the door and then climbing into the front seat. I must have been quite a spectacle.

It was a little easier getting him back in to go home.

Thank You – Chick-fil-A Event

Thank you to all our members, family, and friends for stopping by last night at Chick-fil-A!

Also many thanks to Joe and Anna Johnson, Gail Bleakley, Barb Saylor, Kody Adams, Barb, Bob, and Honey Davis, Mariel Connell, and Anna Lawson for staffing the table inside and standing at the drive-thru.

We were not permitted to “beg” at the drive-thru, thanks to a previous nights’ organization, but the pups still got plenty of pats on the head.
