Plants that Keep Ticks Away

Well, I’ve already seen two ticks this past week….one crawling on Harry and one on Anna. Neither was attached, but YUK. This timely article was posted on Facebook. Seems smelly plants like lavender and marigolds may be tick deterents.

Problems with Pet Finder

Having some problems with Petfinder, where are adoptable dogs are posted, so thought I’d add these photos to the blog until petfinder is working again.

Ariel is a happy go lucky about one year old golden mix. She loves to be petted and is learning her name since she came to rescue without one.

She’s a tiny pup weighing in at about 30 pounds and likely won’t get much bigger. The stuffed golden retriever she sleeps with in her crate is twice her size. She loves toys.

She’s getting along great with our four goldens and two cats. We’re having a hard time keeping her quiet while she recovers from her spay surgery, but she’ll be able to get a bath and be adopted this weekend.

To adopt Ariel or any of the goldens currently available for adoption, download an application and a volunteer home visitor will contact you to set up a time for a home visit. If you are interested in meeting Ariel, note that on your application and Joe and I will do your home visit and bring Miss Ariel.

Ariel is Here

Our little miss arrived last evening and has settled in nicely. At a mere 29 pounds (She does need to gain a few pounds) she’s the perfect lap dog. Ariel is about one year old and is a golden mix….possible with a spaniel as she has little freckles on her paws.

The shelter staff and transporter said she was shy, but we haven’t seen the shy side of her. She LOVES to be petted and started barking along with Harry when we didn’t get dinner ready fast enough last night, but then she picked at her food and didn’t really eat much.

What a trooper she is. She was at the shelter on Friday a.m., was spay at the vet Friday during the day, transferred to a boarding facility on Friday night, spent Saturday night at the Orangeburg SPCA in SC and rode to Fredericksburg MD yesterday….all with no pain meds.

Yet she has been wagging that little tail nonstop and, even though I shouldn’t have, I let her play with the other pups at bit this morning which is why she is all wet in this picture. At least she is just wet, I had to bathe Harry – again! Not sure where he finds the mud.

Since Ariel still has sutures from her spay surgery I can’t bathe her yet, but once she gets groomed she’ll be even cuter.

Ariel is available for adoption this weekend.

Waltz of the Flea

My father sent me this link. Possibly he thinks I should train Sampson and Danny Boy to play the piano
