Holly – March, 2011

Holly March 13
Holly Noel Johnson (November 3, 1997 – March 14, 2011) of Norfolk, VA was helped across the rainbow bridge today.

She was the much loved golden of Joe, Pat and April Johnson. She was met on the other side of the bridge by her golden brothers Cappuccino and Steve and her feline sisters Abby and Isabel.

Collecting Frisbees was Holly job in life. She started retrieving when she was only a few weeks old. She loved to retrieve Frisbees, but only the 99 cent ones from PETCO. She especially liked to retrieve them from the water and loved to go to Aunt Stephanie’s house on the water. In her senior years when the vet said “No more Frisbees.” she would collect nine Frisbees when tossed around the yard meticulously turning them all in the same direction so they would stack neatly.

Holly struggled with arthritis since she was two years old. She was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy over two years ago which is usually fatal, but she was one of a small percentage of dogs who responded to amino acid supplements.

Holly was a daddy’s girl and would have loved to have been the only dog, but alas, with her parents fostering needy goldens, that was never the case.

Holly is survived by her human parents, her golden siblings – Anna, Madeline and Harry, and her feline siblings Kiwi, Al and Sam.

Donations to Golden Rescue of Southern Maryland, Box 6 Great Mills, MD 20634 in her memory will warm her family’s heart.

Hugs to all of you, humans and pets. Holly was a beautiful dog, inside and out.

I’ve been thinking about Holly all day. She had a wonderful life with the Johnsons and will be missed by us all of us in the rescue. Holly always seemed sort of regal and dignified to me even with 4 Frisbees in her mouth. I will always remember her swimming at Steph’s. We will miss her.

My heart goes out to you and Joe. I know what a hard day this must be, with more ahead. You reached for the grace to do the right thing for her. For the love of a dog, we grieve, but for the love of dogs, we go on. May the heavens be filled with frisbees.

Oh, how I will miss Holly swimming here at Piney with all of the other dogs. She occupies a very warm place in my heart and I’m very sad.

Holly will be missed by so many. I will always remember her bringing me frisbees to toss when I came over and being amazed when she stacked them up and brought them back. She was so special and lucky to have spent her life with both of you.

Dear Pat and Joe,
I’m so very sorry for your hard loss and this very hard day…my heart goes out to you. It was very evident, even from your posts, that Holly was much loved by you and very fortunate to have you both to love and look out for her all her many years. I am certain Heaven is filled to the max with frisbees and imagine Holly is attempting to pick up them all! You are in my thoughts and prayers.
