Reputable Kennels in SOMD?
Hello All, We are looking for a reputable kennel for our 3 year old golden (Squire) because next month we will be taking our first vacation without him in 1 1/2 years. We live in Charles County but would definitely drive to St. Mary’s or Calvert if someplace was highly recommended. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Maybe you two could “trade” sitting as you both have young boys!
It’d be great if we could form our own “internal” kennel and swap sitting needs. How long will you be gone? My friends and I swap dog sitting so maybe we could help out.
Pat, now that I think about it, maybe you could add a site for “sitting needs”? Info on the dogs health needs, whether other dog or cat friendly, etc could be added. Hate to think of goldens in a kennel–they are so people dependent.
We compiled a list of folks who were willing to dog sit last summer, but I don’t think anyone used it. Maybe folks could just post on here that the need a sitter or a recommendation and then others could offer. I don’t think it should be “sponsored” per se by the rescue because of liability issues.
I need to put a plug in for trailsendpetsitting@att.net which is the sitter we use. She gives 10% of the first invoice to the rescue and has been great for us, but we have a houseful of animals. We can’t afford a kennel!
I’m adding myself to this “dog swap” list! Crumpet is a 6 y.o./f. She’s laid back and easy to take care of. She gets along with most dogs, but wouldn’t do well with a high-energy puppy (she hates to be jumped on or bothered too much!) She has stitches now, but I expect she’ll be back to normal and fully healthy by the end of March when we leave for vacation. We’ve doggy-swapped for vacations before and it has worked out very well… I would definitely prefer that to the kennel. We could always do a trial one day to make sure the dogs get along first too… Feel free to contact me if you want to see if we can coordinate a vacation swap…
