Ouch! Vet Visits Are Expensive

My 8 year old rescue golden, Ruby Tuesday went in for her annual, which at 8 should now be biannual, check up.

Exam, fecal, CBC blood work, heartworm test, an ear check, a year supply of flea/tick product (I can get a $35 rebate) and heartworm prevention came to over $800.

Note there were no vaccinations or titers.

I have pet insurance (Healthy Paws) for the big things, but these days you almost need to have it for wellness exams.

Curious, how to others’ costs compare?

Millie’s annual (didn’t know old dogs should go twice a year) without CBC, ear cytology, flea & tick preventive, and heartworm preventive was about $200. I get her flea & tick preventive and heartworm preventive online for about $270.
