Thank You Debbie Dofflemyer

As you have seen, volunteering with our rescue is often a family affair. I met the person I would like to thank today, Debbie Dofflemyer, through her mom – Betty and Lloyd Davis, who both have passed. Betty had a soft spot for senior pups. She had seen Bailey, a senior golden at Tricounty Animal Shelter and couldn’t get him off her mind. She called the shelter and learned our rescue had pulled him; tracked him down, fostered and adopted him. Then fostered several more pups.

Instead of flowers, her family suggested donations to our rescue at her funeral.

Debbie’s sister, Tiffany, adopted a pup from the rescue.

Debbie fostered her first senior golden, Sugar this year. Sugar crossed Rainbow Bridge shortly after she was adopted and Debbie was instrumental in helping Sugar’s adopter, Deborah Bridges adopt Foxy, a flat coated terrier from our rescue. Debbie picked Foxy up and transporter her across the bridge to the Eastern Shore. Debbie continues to work closely as Foxy’s new mom adapts to living with a non golden, but lovable pup.

Debbie worked full time until this past summer. Now she and her sister are busy elves making crafts to sell at the rescue’s upcoming craft shows.

On an even more personal note, when I adopted a pup over four years ago, Debbie was adopting from the same litter and graciously offered to deliver my little guy (Keagan and her guy is Kaine) to me from Maine.

You may have met Debbie’s husband and son as they often attend Dog Park Play Days.

Please join me in sending appreciation to Debbie and her golden loving family.
