Skip Crossed Rainbow Bridge

Skip

From Valerie:

Tonight one of my dearest doggie friends, Skip Rabuck, passed away from what is believed to be a tumor on his spine. He only started showing signs of illness a few weeks ago. Skip was a one of a kind dog. He was one of the Terrific Ten dogs rescued from a puppy mill in Zuni, VA, in 2009. He was adopted twice and returned before Craig and Peggy Rabuck adopted him without hesitation.
They were completely committed to giving Skip the love and care he hadn’t had in his approximately 2 years in the puppy mill, and weren’t the least bit concerned that they couldn’t handle the challenges that come with an abused/neglected dog.

Skip was so lucky to find them, but Craig and Peggy were even luckier to be blessed by having Skip, if only for 7 years. I was lucky, too. Over those years, I spent a lot of time with Skippy, at the dog park or dog sitting him and his doggie brothers and sisters. Skip was uncomfortable around almost everyone, and it was a great joy that after years of working with him, he finally let me pet him, and put his head on my lap on the sofa.

Craig and Peggy, you are in my prayers.
I love you Skip. I hope you are pain free, swimming and fetching tennis balls in Heaven.

I keep this picture on my computer desk top. Joe and I fostered both Skip and his buddy, Rip. This was when I really learned how satisfying it is to help a pup who has been so let down by humans. We loved going to the dog park and seeing Skip run up to us for a pat as we knew that was a big deal.

He was much loved and part of a great pack. His dad Craig says, “He was a great well behaved and my favorite.”
