River Crosses Rainbow Bridge

River

From Stephanie Waikart, “River has crossed Rainbow’s bridge today.  I took him to Three Notch where Kathy Bennett gave him the “sleeping medication”.  He pretty much told me last night and this morning that he was “done”.  And I was relieved because he had multiple problems and was getting worse and he was tired.  While he rallied a bit with the medicine he was taking for Ehrlichia, he slipped back yesterday.

He had turned 12 last week and I was grateful I had him for so long.  He was my best friend and faithful companion.  Couldn’t ask for a better dog who seemed almost human at times with his empathy for his master.

We’ll give him a cheer on Beach Blast Day next Sat.  I’m praying for good weather.”

From me (Pat, Rescue President)

“I’ve know River since the rescue was formed in 2007. His mom is a founding member who was at that first meeting on Feb 24th, 2007. This is the way I’ll remember River, running to greet our pups when we came for a swim. He was the most gracious host!

Our Anna is in the background. She told me she was there to greet River this morning and show him all the best places to dive for rocks – his favorite past time.

We will drink a toast to River at the Beach Blast next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stephanie’s. River will be missed.

River shared a beautiful time with Stephanie as one can tell from the pictures. As his name implies, he is now free to swim, dive and enjoy heavenly rivers forever. Praying for strength and comfort Stephanie as you miss your best friend River.
