Vinny crossed over

It is with huge tears that I write about my best-friend Vinny. While only with me for 1 1/2 years, he became the joy of the household. My lawn looks like a minefield, and I never minded his love for digging holes and laying in them. He found his most joy, laying in the yard, under a tree in a hole he’d dug chewing on a bone. He’d lay there for hours smilin’ and watching the day go by. The past few weeks have been difficult as we watched him deteriorate to the point that we had to carry him out to his spot to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. He’s now resting peacefully under his favorite tree. The big guy was a real blessing to me. A simple pat on the head made his day complete. And seeing his delight each morning when I handed him a bone to take outside made my day complete. We will all miss you Vinny. You truly were a “good dog.”

Stacy, so sorry to hear about the loss of Vinny. Have comfort knowing you gave him the best year and a half of his life!

Oh no. I am so sad to hear this news about Vinny. I picked him up from the Well Pet Clinic and we didn’t think he would last a week, he was so skinny and was surely in a lot of pain. He was my shared foster dog with Al and we worked so hard to get him healthy. I loved him so much. My favorite memories of him are when he would go swimming in his little life vest (he hated it) and when he would crunch on his raw chicken thighs. I’m glad he enjoyed his final year and was happy in the sunshine and loved.

Despite severe hip dysplasia Vinny was always eager to go. He loved to explore the fields and woods at the marina where we took him swimming. Although he wasn’t a big fan of swimming it help him get his mobility back. His quirky smile made me think he felt the pain but he wasn’t going to let it keep him from enjoying life.

OMG Vinny looks SO handsome in this picture! What a great job you did with him. Thank you for loving Vinny and letting him know happiness while he was on earth.

Vinny deserved to have such a great year and a half we you. He must have had so a hard and sad life before coming to the rescue. I think we have more pictures of Vinny than any other rescue dog. I always smile when a picture of him comes up on my screensaver. We will miss Mr. Vinny.

So sorry to hear about Vinny. I can still hear Al calling Yo’ Vinny as they headed out to the truck for a ride. He did love his bones and always had a smile. Take care.

The wonderful thing about Vinny is, this picture was taken the day he died. Right after I’d carried him out to one of his “spots”. He remained a handsome, wonderful friend until the very end.

Another testament to the power of love! Those in the rescue who transitioned him from hopelessness to his furrever home, and Stacy and your family giving him love and affection, provided Vinny a lifetime of happiness in the year and a half he lived. He will be remembered by all of us as a “good dog”!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I so understand since we just had to put Sam to sleep on Saturday. There is just a loss that you feel that no one really understands unless they have shared that love with a four legged child and best friend. Our sympathies.

Oh, Stacy, I am so very sorry for your loss. I adopted Lass from GRRSM a few years ago, so have kept in touch through the website and blog. Vinny caught my eye, both by his pictures and description. There was just something special about him. I must admit I thought about contacting to adopt Vinny, but realized that, while I was working full time, could not give him the love and home he needed…however I am so very glad that he found that home with you. I am so sorry you have to go through this hard time, but happy you gave Vinny so very much. You are right, he was a good dog, a very good dog, and very missed.
